Warning Check Battery Light Comes On V-Tech cordless phone model # 5850?
My brother gave me a V-Tech cordless phone because he got a new one and my old one wasn't working. I got the message Warning Check Battery on the phone so I called up V-Tech to ask if there was a certain kind of battery I was supposed to get and they said that I had to get any type of rechargeable batteries which I did. I put the new batteries in and charged the phone for 10-12 hours then used it. After about a month the same message came on. I changed the batteries again and charged once again. I read on V-Tech's website that the batteries were supposed to last at least one year so something is wrong with my phone. I don't know what it is. Someone told me that it might mean I'm overcharging it so I've left the phone out of the charger at night but the same thing happens. I don't want to have to keep spending money on the batteries for them to work for such a short amount of time. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate some help because I need a phone that works
It could be that the Check Battery Light circuitry has a problem (short) and the battery is not losing its charge at all. You could ignore the Warning Check Battery Light until the battery fails, the lenght of time it takes to fail would be a guide in determining if the the problem is the battery or failed circuitry. If the battery loses its charge all you will loose is any programming you had done in the phone.
