How can fix the blurriness on my notebook webcam?
I just bought a brand new Toshiba to replace my 3 year old Toshiba. However, the internal webcam is blurry and doesn't show color like my old one. I am using the default settings like on my old Toshiba and they're sitting side by side. My old Toshiba looks photo quality while the new one looks grainy and black/white only. I just want to know before I return this computer for a refund.
Quality in webcams vary greatly, and embedded cameras are often super cheap. A previous iteration of the laptop does not indicate that the next one will be of better quality.
Motion blur and grainy images are usually a sign that the camera is not getting enough light; it is maxing out on sensitivity and exposing longer for each frame.
Webcams usually require really good lighting to do an OK job. The camera should be able to take sharp images if there is good light in the room and if nothing is moving, so you can test it this way; see if it works well under great conditions, then you'll know if it is actually defective or just shabby.
