More Right Lcd Support Results At Bottom Of The Page
My monitor can support higher refresh rates, but not too well?
I have a Hanns G HG281D LCD monitor and have my desktop resolution set to 1440x900 @ 60 Hz. I bought this PC for the sole purpose of game performance. When I run Halo PC, I play at 800x600 @ 60 Hz, which is good, but I want better. The game says this monitor can support up to 75 Hz on the 800x600 res in game; so I set it at 75 Hz.
Right off the bat, its not smooth at all. This monitor has a 3 ms response time, which in my research is pretty good. I also have this monitor hooked up to the VGA port, and my Xbox to the HDMI port.
I'd like some help on what I can do to make my games run very smoothly at 75 Hz at such a low res.
I'd forget it. You will _not_ notice any jerkiness at 60Hz. Higher refresh rates are only attractive for CRT monitors where they reduce flicker.
If your image appears jerky at 60Hz then it is a sign that your computer can't generate each image quickly enough to display the next image at the correct time. Upping the refresh rate will only make things worse since it makes even higher demands making your computer fall even more behind.
